The canonical history of Western art only belatedly included the names of female artists. It is not something that is only verified in the visual arts, but the historical memory of almost all cultural and social life relegated the exquisite and brilliant work of many women to the margins -often exceptionally- of the scene. Obviously I'm talking about the West.

The inauguration of this exhibition of female artists, in a gallery also run by a woman, is a gesture that imposes with the forcefulness of reality that hegemony is - at least and happily - beginning to crumble. It was time for the value, the beauty, the mastery of any artist's work to be seen for what it is: the work of a person who makes art.

The struggle of women will take time and effort, deconstructing discourses is not easy or fast, but the certainty is that it will not be possible to stop this river. Centuries of injustice and oppression created the momentum that we are witnessing these days.

This group of works made by intense and ambiguous artists is a mirror of encounters and misunderstandings of the line, structures so solid and eloquent that they seem to enter the status quo with the fierceness with which one arrives at a battlefield. Each of these women makes their art within the world of geometric abstraction.
