DE CAMINAR SOBRE EL BORDE

De caminar sobre el borde

The exhibition brings together the work of five artists who explore different ways of arriving at abstraction with also dissimilar languages and materialities. In his works, a subtle impulse to travel the limit space of forms, to travel the arbitrary - albeit definitive - place of things, to move between the material split and the necessary link with the alien is filtered.

Walking on the edge introduces us to the open space, the shared space, the public. It indicates a path that is built by cutting or piercing a flat surface, by denting a pattern or an apparently soft object, or by marking the limits of transparency and retracing a knot of lines. In these actions, the city, the journey and the unusual places sneak in as a quarry of imprecise sketches that later are transformed, slowly but decisively, into borders of new forms.

Jessica Trosman puts her body to work. Approach matter in an unusual way. She models her pieces by releasing the power of all the components: fabrics, metals, plastics, simple, light elements that exempt from any functionality. She chooses them for their colors and textures, and combines them, folds, flattens, inflates them, while letting them release energies that are often unsuspected. Although her knowledge as a clothing designer and artist is present in that meeting, she decides to go a step further assuming that it is a kind of dialogue, an alchemical experience in which the materials manifest themselves.

BIO

Jessica Trosman (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1966)

Jessica was born in Buenos Aires in 1966. At the age of twelve she moved to Miami, where she studied fashion design. In Argentina, it launched Trosman-Churba together with the Argentine designer Martín Churba and its collections were sold in 40 luxury multi-brand stores around the world. In 2000, the duo won the Silver Scissors Award for Best Fashion Designer.

In 2002 Jessica bought her share from Martín Churba and launched her eponymous brand, Trosman. The foundational foundations of her new project - researched design, textile complexity and a deep interest in the needs of women - made this label a national and international sensation that led it to be chosen among the one hundred best designers in the world for fashion books as influential as SAMPLE (Phaidon Press, ed.) and FASHION NOW (Taschen, ed.).

In 2011 Jessica sold the Trosman brand to a national group to focus on her own textile research and development laboratory. With it, he developed unique textile interventions for Rick Owens, Chanel and a number of Latin American brands.

In August 2013, Jessica Trosman launched JT. His most democratic and universalist project that corresponds to the current moment in Trosman's life: maturity, research, intelligence. He received the 2013 Professional Style Award, delivered by the Community of Trends of the Faculty of Design and Communication of the University of Palermo and since 2014 he has been a member of the Academic Committee of Fashion, an initiative developed by the Faculty of D&C.
